Rose mallow (Hibiscus)

I love flowers and actually who doesn’t love one? I have my garden and I am proud of it, even its smaller then my neighbor’s :).  Well, today when I got up and went to the window with my cup of tea, a laughing Rose mallow was waiting to greet me. I was so mesmerized by its beauty that I want to know more about it and I went straight to the nearby Book Store to get an encyclopedia regarding the flowers. And guess what? A whole new world about Rose mallow (Hibiscus) was in front of me.

Rose mallow (Hibiscus) is spread all over the world in different genus including some 150 to 160(maybe more) species. Originally it came from China. The plant needs very little maintenance and Hibiscus plants are well known for their colorful proclaim-shaped flowers. Plants need complete sun to grow and during the winter it’ll die but will come back in spring again (Strange, isn’t it?). So we can name it as a faithful flower too. Flowers bloom for a day but no need to worry because new flowers take their places very soon.
In India and basically in Kolkata, these flowers are use to worship goddess Kali (Destructive and creative aspect of God as the Divine Mother in Hinduism). The Hibiscus or Rose mallow, also known as the rose of Sharon, was used in the Bible to be a symbol of love and kindness.

Now the interesting part is not only they will make your garden and home beautiful they can be used for cooking and medicinal purposes. WALLAH

So as you all can see that a simple flower can influence our life in so many ways. Now I am thoroughly a fan of this wonderful flower, what about you all.

Extra fact: Hibiscus Syracuse is the national flower of South Korea and Hibiscus Rosa-sinensis is the national flower of Malaysia.
